Lizzie*Kate SAL

sunnudagur, janúar 07, 2007
My first finish in this SAL. I'm joining the ladies in my online stitching club, Allt í Kross, in stitching the 12 Blessings of Christmas from Lizzie*Kate and my first finish is Joy. Well, it's Gleði, coz Linda, our listmum, translated the captions and charted them for us as well :-) Isn't she nice? :-D I think most of us are doing these in Icelandic.

If you want you can click the pic and see it a little larger. Now to the details. I'm doing these ornies on 32ct Lambswool Jobelan with a mixture of WDW, GAST and DMC threads. This one has one GAST, 3 WDW and 2 DMC.

I'm really pleased with this ornie and can't wait till next month, but we're doing these as a monthly SAL, since there are 12 months and 12 designs :-)

In other news I've made a little more progress on Winter Queen despite the fact I used today to stitch up this little ornie. I'm going to continue working on her tomorrow :-) Maybe I'll post a pic tomorrow evening?

Happy New Year!

miðvikudagur, janúar 03, 2007
I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Celebration and nobody stumbled too hard into the new year ;-) My new year's celebrations were very conservative this time around, I had to work on New Years Eve and New Years Day. But that was ok, I ate wonderful food which my brother cooked and watched the show my fellow towns people put on at midnight. One of my cats did however manage to get outside right before midnight on New Years Eve and I was worried sick but he showed up rather scared and a little frazzled at around 1 am. I was just glad to see him safe and sound :-)

I'm not going to post any goals for the new year and there is no review of goals.. I just plan to enjoy my stitching time this year and show off the results on this blog as I've done till now. I have been giving the Winter Queen a little love and affection the last couple of days and she's growing a little bit. As soon as I think there is enough progress I'll post a pic.

There is talk of a SAL in my stitching group, Allt í Kross, and I'm going to participate. Well, I did come up with the idea, so of course I'll join ;-) We are going to stitch up the 12 Blessings of Christmas from Lizzie*Kate and because we are a diverse group of stitchers we are planning to do one a month, starting this january. I am not sure which one I'm starting with, but maybe I'll do Joy first. As with everything else, I'll post a pic as soon as I start and have something to show :-D

I've signed up for one exchange and I've already received my recipient's name and am busily looking for an appropriate design. This exchange is called Winter Wonderland and it's being organized on SBEBB. It's going to be fun, coz there is one requirement in this exchange. There has to be a snowman in the design.. We all know how much I like them ;-)

More Christmas Ornaments :-)

föstudagur, desember 29, 2006
I was involved in two Christmas ornament exchanges this year, one was on SBEBB and the other was in Allt í Kross group. Rósa Tom was the one stitching an ornament for me in the latter exchange and she wrapped it up so I didn't open it till Christmas Eve. Here is a pic of the ornament she made me. Of course it had a snowman on it ;-)

Isn't it gorgeous? I love it. But Rósa Tom sent me another ornament made of felt. That was so cute too.

Sorry how blurry this one is. It was fine on the screen on the camera but on the computer screen, not so fine..

I feel so lucky and loved. Thank you Rósa Tom. I think I forgot to send you a thank you email, but be sure that I loved it and am proud to display them in my living room :-)

And just because there is an opportunity to show my cats, here is my oldest and wisest cat, Loftur. Isn't he handsome?

Isn't it gorgeous? And here is another photo with all the goodies from the package she sent me. The fabric on the table is also from Satomi. Very pretty and festive :-)

My parter has also recieved her ornament, but I don't have a photo of it to share coz my camera was being diffcult to work with..

24klst áskorun og jólaskraut :-)

sunnudagur, mars 12, 2006
Ég tók þátt í 24hr Challenge á Friends Gather um helgina og eins og seinast ákvað ég að gera jólaskraut fyrir Ornaments with KarenV SAL-ið til að slá tvær flugur í sama högginu. Þetta er svo mikil snilld :-D

Í þetta skiptið saumaði ég mynd sem fór sko beint á listann minn þegar ég renndi í gegnum Just Cross Stitch ornament blaðið þegar ég fékk það.

24hr Challenge and Ornament :-)

I participated in the 24hr Challenge on Friends Gather BB again this month and like last time I decided to do the Ornament SAL with the same design. It's such genius! :-D

This time I stitched a design that went straight to my to-do list when I looked through JCS ornament issue when I first got it. The design is Britty Christmas Kitty and is designed by Brittercup Designs. I've done one of their little designs before and these kitties have stolen my heart! They're so cute and the christmas kitty is the cutest one of them all! :-) The only problem was that this design is done over one! This is my second time doing over one stitching and I did enjoy it but it is rather tiresome for the eyes! Last time I stitched over one I asked for advice and got some wonderful comments that were very helpful this time around. I just want to thank you all who gave advice back in january. It helped me a whole lot :-D

So, I started yesterday at around 3 pm and when I retired to bed last night I had done the kitty and the dark green of the tree. And this morning I finished the last bit of stitching :-D But before I sat down to stitch I did manage to bake a cake :-D I feel very accomplished today :-D

Before I forget, the fabric is 28ct Queen Anne's Lace Hand-dyed Jobelan from Silkweaver and the threads are Weeks Dye Works. The fabric felt a lot smaller though!

Ég saumaði það á 28ct Cashel Linen sem er ljósblátt á litinn (kallast Little boy blue, svaka sætt :-) ) með DMC og Kreinik very fine braid. Allt eins og munstrið kallaði eftir.

Kitty in the window

I decided to get two flies with one stone and take part in this weekends 24hr challenge on Friends Gather BB and stitch an ornament in that time frame for Ornaments with KarenV (on the same BB). I started the kitty yesterday and finished just now. I was stitching all of yesterday, from approx. one pm till midnight. There were a couple of breaks in there though, I went to the shop, ate dinner and of course I went to the bathroom a few times. Those breaks are essential :-D

The only thing left to do when I quit last night was the backstitching on the kitty, but I sat down after work today and got that finished. That only took about 25 minutes, I thought it would be more. I can never guess how long backstitching takes me, I always assume more time than it actually is. Maybe that's why I like the backstitching most of the time :-)

This ornament is called Cat in Window and is designed by Ursula Michaels. It was in JCS 2004 ornament issue. I stitched it on 28ct Little boy blue Cashel Linen with the DMC and Kreinik very fine braid that was required. Sorry that I haven't ironed it.. I was just so happy to have it finished on time :-)

Noel

sunnudagur, desember 18, 2005

Noel

Sue Hillis's christmas ornaments are fast becoming my fav's :-) I did take an awful long time stitching this one but I like it :-)

It's done with DMC colors and on 25ct Antique white Lugana. I love how it comes out and the fabric with the snowmen is the fabric I intend to use to make the pillow. I didn't find any with only candy canes on it or red and white like in the magazine. Therefor I decided to use snowmen instead :-) I do love my snowmen!

Viktoríska jólatréð

þriðjudagur, desember 13, 2005
Linda úr Allt í Kross var svo æðisleg að kaupa fyrir mig Bugle perlur og gylltar perlur svo ég gæti sett kertin á blessað jólatréð mitt :-) Ég fæ henni ekki þakkað nógsamlega :-) Þessar perlur eru nefnilega ekki til hér á Hornafirði.

Ég er svakalega ánægð með jólatréð. Perlurnar sem eru í skreytingunni eru afgangsperlur úr Mill Hill myndunum sem ég hef gert og líka perlur sem ég fékk frá Silkweaver á meðan ég var í Stash of the Month klúbbnum.

Victorian Christmas Tree with beads

Linda, list mom from Allt í Kross, was such darling and bought the bugle beads and gold beads I needed to make the candles for this adorable tree. My LNS (if I can call them that) don't carry beads of any kind so Linda offered to buy the beads in Reykjavík and send them to me. She's the ultimate pearl ;-)

I'm over the moon with the way it turned out and I just wish I could take a pic that does it justice. I just used leftover beads from various projects I've done in the past for the garland as well as some I got in Stash of the Month club at Silkweaver. This gorgeous christmas tree will most likely be finished as a pillow ornament like in the magazine. I just don't know if I will do it before this christmas or the next..

I still can't decide which Mill Hill kit will be the first to be stitched but Sonja (from Allt í Kross) has brought up the idea of a SAL with the Woodland Grace one. I'd love to do that but I don't think I'll be able to start before the start of January.

Viktorískt Jólatré

fimmtudagur, desember 08, 2005

Victorian Christmas Tree

I have made a list of a few ornaments I want to make and this was one of those. It's designed by Sue Hillis and is in JCS 2003 ornament issue. There are beads also that represent the garland and candles on the tree and I'm hopefully putting those on this weekend. I'm really happy with the way this came out even without the beads :-)

It's stitched with Silk Mori (like the design called for) on 28ct Dusty Miller Permin Linen :-)

Christmas Ornament received!

I'm so glad that Isabelle liked the ornament I stitched for her in the Christmas Ornament Exchange on SBEBB. She sent me the nicest email telling me she'd received :-) I was doubting my choice but decided to follow my first instinct and she says she likes it! It really made my day to hear that :-) As did reading all the wonderful things she had to say about me. I'd just like to say thanks to Isabelle for being such a sweet and wonderful person.

Now the details: I chose to stitch The Golden Hoop 2004 Christmas Ornament Freebie by Jodi Watson. It's stitched on 28 ct. white Cashel Linen with DMC threads. It was put together with backstitching on the two sides and then whipstitching the two sides together. If you want to see better pictures of it then hop on over to Isabelle's blog.

I am afraid that the website that provided the freebie is caput so I can't offer a link to this freebie.

*Edit*
Outi remembered seeing this pattern on CyberStitchers and sent me the link. So here it is for those of you who might want to stitch this one yourselves :-)

Mill Hill er æði!

sunnudagur, nóvember 20, 2005
Ég er byrjuð á þessu Mill Hill kitti sem heitir Holiday Wreath Garden Gate og ætla að nota jólalaugardagana í það. Reyndar ætla ég að klára það fyrir jól þannig að ég gæti gripið í það á öðrum dögum líka :-)

Mill Hill Rocks!

This kit I had in my stash and I decided that it would be my christmas-saturday project. I started it today but haven't done much, only greens from the wreath itself.

In order to finish this before christmas I won't be stitching it only on saturdays :-)

Jólakisinn loksins búinn :-)

sunnudagur, nóvember 06, 2005
Kláruð 5. nóv en það tók líka tímann sinn.Ég var alveg harðákveðin í að klára þessa blessuðu mynd í dag. Og það tókst. Reyndar eftir miðnætti en það er aukaatriði ;-)

Ég held samt að ég leggi ekki í restina af þessum kisum, a.m.k. ekki strax. Jólalaugardagar verða samt enn haldnir á þessu heimili, bara með einhver önnur verkefni. Við skulum sjá til hvað ég finn í saumaskúffunni minni :-)

Christmas kitty finished

And it took me a while too! For a moment I thought I might never finish this little darling. I don't know why it took me so long but she's finished now. I am grateful for that :-) I don't think I will begin the other five kitties, at least not now. Maybe at a later date. I still love them but I don't have patience for them if they're all gonna take this long..
