Lizzie*Kate SAL

sunnudagur, janúar 07, 2007
My first finish in this SAL. I'm joining the ladies in my online stitching club, Allt í Kross, in stitching the 12 Blessings of Christmas from Lizzie*Kate and my first finish is Joy. Well, it's Gleði, coz Linda, our listmum, translated the captions and charted them for us as well :-) Isn't she nice? :-D I think most of us are doing these in Icelandic.

If you want you can click the pic and see it a little larger. Now to the details. I'm doing these ornies on 32ct Lambswool Jobelan with a mixture of WDW, GAST and DMC threads. This one has one GAST, 3 WDW and 2 DMC.

I'm really pleased with this ornie and can't wait till next month, but we're doing these as a monthly SAL, since there are 12 months and 12 designs :-)

In other news I've made a little more progress on Winter Queen despite the fact I used today to stitch up this little ornie. I'm going to continue working on her tomorrow :-) Maybe I'll post a pic tomorrow evening?

Santa finished!

föstudagur, desember 29, 2006
I put the final french knots in just a few moments ago. Well the last thing I did was put the bow in the doll's hair :-) So cute. I am now positive I will not do the wording on top, I like the design as it is, it's festive enough I think :-)

Ain't he cute? Sorry about the overexposure. As it's dark for most of the day this time of year natural light is hard to come by..

This bookmark I got from my sister on Christmas. I am already using it and I love it. Isn't my sister sweet to me :-) I just wanted to brag about it :-)

I also want to comment on the new look for my blog. I felt it needed a little facelift since I moved over to the new blogger. I also changed the name of the blog, but not the link. Since I do it only in english now I don't see why the title shouldn't be in english too. I've also been spending hours upon hours labeling the posts, but it's not done and will probably never be done.. But at least it's started, just like all my other WIP's ;-D

A progress pic of my santa project

It's a dimensions kit called We Believe I think. I just love this santa, I've had this kit in my stash for about a year and a half so it was about time it got stitched.

As you can see it's not quite done, I've got a little backstitching to do and there is the matter of the wording on top... I'm not sure I'll be stitching that. I think I may leave the santa as he is.

More Christmas Ornaments :-)

I was involved in two Christmas ornament exchanges this year, one was on SBEBB and the other was in Allt í Kross group. Rósa Tom was the one stitching an ornament for me in the latter exchange and she wrapped it up so I didn't open it till Christmas Eve. Here is a pic of the ornament she made me. Of course it had a snowman on it ;-)

Isn't it gorgeous? I love it. But Rósa Tom sent me another ornament made of felt. That was so cute too.

Sorry how blurry this one is. It was fine on the screen on the camera but on the computer screen, not so fine..

I feel so lucky and loved. Thank you Rósa Tom. I think I forgot to send you a thank you email, but be sure that I loved it and am proud to display them in my living room :-)

And just because there is an opportunity to show my cats, here is my oldest and wisest cat, Loftur. Isn't he handsome?

laugardagur, desember 23, 2006
My camera got her batteries today and now I can share the beautiful ornament Satomi made me in the SBEBB Christmas Ornament Exchange.

Isn't it gorgeous? And here is another photo with all the goodies from the package she sent me. The fabric on the table is also from Satomi. Very pretty and festive :-)

My parter has also recieved her ornament, but I don't have a photo of it to share coz my camera was being diffcult to work with..

Christmas stitching

föstudagur, desember 22, 2006
I haven't really been stitching much lately, but I am almost finished with a Dimensions kit I started a month and a half ago. There's almost nothing left so of course I haven't touched it in a week or ten days! My camera is not working, it needs batteries and I just bought some but now I can't find them. Christmas stress is getting to me.

I just finished decorating my apartment. There are christmas lights in the windows and the small christmas tree is now in it's place. I don't decorate it, coz it has lights (the lights are those fiber threads that change colors and it's so cute). Everything is ready now for the holidays to begin. I'll be celebrating this season with my two brothers and it's going to be nice. No big fuzz except for those lights in my living room :-D and the snowmen all over the room :-) I've decided to start collecting snowmen decorations and speaking of those. I got the lovliest ornament from Japan! I took part in SBEBB christmas ornament exchange and was lucky enough to receive an ornament from Satomi in Japan. I just love my new ornament and it's now displayed in the living room where everybody can see it. She also sent some goodies and I just loved them all. I am posting the photos as soon as I find those darn batteries!

I also took part in another exchange in my icelandic club, Allt í Kross, and my gifter there was Rósa Tom. She wrapped her ornament so I'm going to open the package on Christmas Eve. I can't wait :-D

I hope everyone is doing well and that you all have a wonderful holiday season whatever your religion is.

Ég saumaði það á 28ct Cashel Linen sem er ljósblátt á litinn (kallast Little boy blue, svaka sætt :-) ) með DMC og Kreinik very fine braid. Allt eins og munstrið kallaði eftir.

Kitty in the window

I decided to get two flies with one stone and take part in this weekends 24hr challenge on Friends Gather BB and stitch an ornament in that time frame for Ornaments with KarenV (on the same BB). I started the kitty yesterday and finished just now. I was stitching all of yesterday, from approx. one pm till midnight. There were a couple of breaks in there though, I went to the shop, ate dinner and of course I went to the bathroom a few times. Those breaks are essential :-D

The only thing left to do when I quit last night was the backstitching on the kitty, but I sat down after work today and got that finished. That only took about 25 minutes, I thought it would be more. I can never guess how long backstitching takes me, I always assume more time than it actually is. Maybe that's why I like the backstitching most of the time :-)

This ornament is called Cat in Window and is designed by Ursula Michaels. It was in JCS 2004 ornament issue. I stitched it on 28ct Little boy blue Cashel Linen with the DMC and Kreinik very fine braid that was required. Sorry that I haven't ironed it.. I was just so happy to have it finished on time :-)

Still with the love needlerolls...

I seem to be unable to stitch a needleroll that doesn't have something to do with love :-D

Today I started Jeanette Douglas' Love Christmas Ornament needleroll from JCS 2005 ornament issue. I probably wouldn't have started it if I hadn't gotten some Fyre Werks in the mail from Anne in Australia. I had asked around for a place to get this thread since I just couldn't be able to find it anywhere, it wasn't available in the right color at Sew and So, they didn't have it at Stitching Bits and Bobs and I couldn't find it anywhere on eBay either.. But Anne came to my rescue and sent me some of it, plenty more than I need for this needleroll. I may even make another one of these to give away next christmas, there is enough of the Fyre Werks for that.. I can't thank Anne enough for helping me out, especially since she didn't stop there, she also sent me some of the Needle Necessities thread needed for this project as well as the Kreinik braid needed :-) She's such a sweetie! Oh, and I also got a postcard from Melbourne in the envelope :-D Thank you, Anne! :-) I hope that someday I'll be able to help you out with something you need!

And I'd also like to thank you guys for the good wishes yesterday. I'm feeling much better and the migraine have gone for the most part. It helps that I had the day off today :-)

I did finish the stitching part of my Valentines Exchange, I only have the beads left (those are in the mail to me) and figure out what to finish it into.. not an easy task :-) I also stitched a little on my Winter Queen, but nothing much, just a little white in her gown.

O Christmas Tree *edited*

fimmtudagur, desember 29, 2005

O Christmas Tree

I got a large fiber order from the US yesterday and amongst the fibers were the two needed for this piece. This ornament is from JCS 2004 and designed by Water's Edge. I need to put on the bow that's supposed to be on the flower pot but other than that it's done. I didn't have the star treasure it called for but I did have this angel and she's perfect right there :-D

The fabric is a hand dyed 28ct Lugana from Silkweaver's, of course :-D The threads are Weeks Dye Works and the beads are Mill Hill Magnifica. Sorry about the poor quality of the pic. My camera is not co-operating with me..

I got so many wonderful and beautiful threads and fibers that I'm still reeling over it all. I spent a great deal of time admiring them and stroking and then I decided to kit up the ornaments I'm planning to stitch. That way I can see which fibers or fabric are missing and order those. Strange, I just got a bucked load of threads and stuff but I still need more!.. This hobby is slowly but surely getting out of control.. And I like it ;-)

*edit*
Here's a pic of the flosses and beads I got.

Gleðileg jól!

laugardagur, desember 24, 2005

Happy holidays!!

I'm listening to christmas songs and getting myself into the christmas spirit. Here in Iceland we celebrate the birth of Jesus tonight at 6 pm. Then we dine and after that everyone retires into the living room where we eat some more, this time it's chocolates, and open the packages. Then we call our relatives who aren't here and wish they were here and let them know they're missed :-)

Those ornies only need the finishing touch, closing the gap and adding hangers and cording. I changed my mind about the fabric for Noel but this one is more complementing I think. The red is closer to the one in the candy canes :-)

Merry christmas and a happy new year!

Noel

sunnudagur, desember 18, 2005

Noel

Sue Hillis's christmas ornaments are fast becoming my fav's :-) I did take an awful long time stitching this one but I like it :-)

It's done with DMC colors and on 25ct Antique white Lugana. I love how it comes out and the fabric with the snowmen is the fabric I intend to use to make the pillow. I didn't find any with only candy canes on it or red and white like in the magazine. Therefor I decided to use snowmen instead :-) I do love my snowmen!

Viktoríska jólatréð

þriðjudagur, desember 13, 2005
Linda úr Allt í Kross var svo æðisleg að kaupa fyrir mig Bugle perlur og gylltar perlur svo ég gæti sett kertin á blessað jólatréð mitt :-) Ég fæ henni ekki þakkað nógsamlega :-) Þessar perlur eru nefnilega ekki til hér á Hornafirði.

Ég er svakalega ánægð með jólatréð. Perlurnar sem eru í skreytingunni eru afgangsperlur úr Mill Hill myndunum sem ég hef gert og líka perlur sem ég fékk frá Silkweaver á meðan ég var í Stash of the Month klúbbnum.

Victorian Christmas Tree with beads

Linda, list mom from Allt í Kross, was such darling and bought the bugle beads and gold beads I needed to make the candles for this adorable tree. My LNS (if I can call them that) don't carry beads of any kind so Linda offered to buy the beads in Reykjavík and send them to me. She's the ultimate pearl ;-)

I'm over the moon with the way it turned out and I just wish I could take a pic that does it justice. I just used leftover beads from various projects I've done in the past for the garland as well as some I got in Stash of the Month club at Silkweaver. This gorgeous christmas tree will most likely be finished as a pillow ornament like in the magazine. I just don't know if I will do it before this christmas or the next..

I still can't decide which Mill Hill kit will be the first to be stitched but Sonja (from Allt í Kross) has brought up the idea of a SAL with the Woodland Grace one. I'd love to do that but I don't think I'll be able to start before the start of January.

Viktorískt Jólatré

fimmtudagur, desember 08, 2005

Victorian Christmas Tree

I have made a list of a few ornaments I want to make and this was one of those. It's designed by Sue Hillis and is in JCS 2003 ornament issue. There are beads also that represent the garland and candles on the tree and I'm hopefully putting those on this weekend. I'm really happy with the way this came out even without the beads :-)

It's stitched with Silk Mori (like the design called for) on 28ct Dusty Miller Permin Linen :-)

Christmas card

This is of course December Flip It from Lizzie*Kate and it's the first design from her that I do (that I know of). I didn't have any of the threads that the design called for so I just used DMC but I decided to try out that fabulous green Needle Necessities threads I got from Danielle. I must say that color is awesome and this photo does not do it justice. In real life it's more vibrant somehow :-) I love it! I also used some Kreinik's I had in my stash, some yellow for the star and ornament, red for the decorations on the tree and some pearly color for the white in the ornament and the gingerbread man. I used some GAST I had for the brown in him as well. I like how this turned out. Which is good since I've decided to use it for a christmas card for a friend :-) Next up is another christmas card motiv (I haven't decided which) and then it's back to Margaret Sherry's 12 days of Christmas :-)

Christmas Ornament received!

I'm so glad that Isabelle liked the ornament I stitched for her in the Christmas Ornament Exchange on SBEBB. She sent me the nicest email telling me she'd received :-) I was doubting my choice but decided to follow my first instinct and she says she likes it! It really made my day to hear that :-) As did reading all the wonderful things she had to say about me. I'd just like to say thanks to Isabelle for being such a sweet and wonderful person.

Now the details: I chose to stitch The Golden Hoop 2004 Christmas Ornament Freebie by Jodi Watson. It's stitched on 28 ct. white Cashel Linen with DMC threads. It was put together with backstitching on the two sides and then whipstitching the two sides together. If you want to see better pictures of it then hop on over to Isabelle's blog.

I am afraid that the website that provided the freebie is caput so I can't offer a link to this freebie.

*Edit*
Outi remembered seeing this pattern on CyberStitchers and sent me the link. So here it is for those of you who might want to stitch this one yourselves :-)

Mill Hill er æði!

sunnudagur, nóvember 20, 2005
Ég er byrjuð á þessu Mill Hill kitti sem heitir Holiday Wreath Garden Gate og ætla að nota jólalaugardagana í það. Reyndar ætla ég að klára það fyrir jól þannig að ég gæti gripið í það á öðrum dögum líka :-)

Mill Hill Rocks!

This kit I had in my stash and I decided that it would be my christmas-saturday project. I started it today but haven't done much, only greens from the wreath itself.

In order to finish this before christmas I won't be stitching it only on saturdays :-)

Jólakisinn loksins búinn :-)

sunnudagur, nóvember 06, 2005
Kláruð 5. nóv en það tók líka tímann sinn.Ég var alveg harðákveðin í að klára þessa blessuðu mynd í dag. Og það tókst. Reyndar eftir miðnætti en það er aukaatriði ;-)

Ég held samt að ég leggi ekki í restina af þessum kisum, a.m.k. ekki strax. Jólalaugardagar verða samt enn haldnir á þessu heimili, bara með einhver önnur verkefni. Við skulum sjá til hvað ég finn í saumaskúffunni minni :-)

Christmas kitty finished

And it took me a while too! For a moment I thought I might never finish this little darling. I don't know why it took me so long but she's finished now. I am grateful for that :-) I don't think I will begin the other five kitties, at least not now. Maybe at a later date. I still love them but I don't have patience for them if they're all gonna take this long..

Ekki mikið að gerast

sunnudagur, október 23, 2005
Ég saumaði ekkert í jólakisunni minni í gær. Ég saumaði ekki í 12 dögum jóla á fimmtudag, ekki heldur á föstudag. Sem sagt, ekki mikið að gerast í saumamálum þessa dagana.

Núna er ég reyndar að stinga fyrstu myndina í Margaret Sherry SAL-inu. Og þó ég hafi ekki verið að sauma í jólakisunni í gær þá saumaði ég samt í jólamynd. Ég gerði Lickle Ted sem var með seinasta eintaki af The World of Cross Stitching. Hann er voðalega sætur :-)

Eins og sést á myndinni ákvað ég að Lickle litli myndi fara einstaklega vel á korti. Undir Lickle ætla ég að handskrifa Gleðileg jól. Ég býst við að systir mín fái að njóta bangsans um jólin og vonandi eitthvað lengur :-) Myndin er ekkert sérstaklega góð en myndavélin var að verða búin með batteríin þannig að ég náði engu betra úr henni í gærkvöldi.

Not much to report

I haven't been doing anything according to my rota since I last posted. Last night I finished this little cutie and decided he'd be perfect for this christmas card. I plan to handwrite Merry christmas below the teddy bear. My sister will most likely be the recipient of this cutie this christmas :-) She doesn't read this blog (she's not a big computer person) so this isn't spoiling her surprise at all ;-)

I am now doing the backstitching on the first day of Margaret Sherry's 12 days of christmas. It's being published in Cross Stitcher, a british magazine I'm a subscriber to. There are many other ladies in my online stitching group doing this piece as well so it's a Stitch-A-Long :-)

Jólin í Júlí

miðvikudagur, júlí 06, 2005
Það sem ég fékk úr Christmas in July Exchange.Ég er ekkert smá happí, ég var nefnilega að fá pakkann minn úr þessum skiptum sem ég sagði ykkur frá. Alla vegana, ég tók mynd af herlegheitunum. Það er sem sagt þessi mynd, ég er ekkert smá ánægð með bæklinginn sem ég fékk. Það eru fullt af æðislegum jólasveinamunstrum sem ég á pottþétt eftir að sauma, svo er jólasokkurinn með bangsanum svo sætur. Hann er saumaður í plast, ég hef ekki prufað það enn, en ég hef gert í pappír og það getur nú varla verið mikið öðruvísi? Jæja, ég kemst að því fyrr en varir, eftir að ég klára Tatty Teddy þá byrja ég á þessu kitti.

Svo gleymdi ég að segja frá því að ég fékk fyrsta tölublaðið mitt af The World Of Cross Stitching á mánudag.
